Synopsis
Shelby Coles (played by Halle Berry) is engaged to Meade Howell, a gifted white jazz musician. Their relationship faces resistance from both families: Meade's family opposes the inter-racial marriage, while Shelby's parents prefer she marry someone in a professional field. As Shelby begins to question her engagement, Lute McNeil enters the picture, a charming man intent on winning her over at any cost.
