The Weight of Chains
Synopsis
The Weight of Chains is a Canadian documentary that examines the role of the United States, NATO and the European Union in the breakup of Yugoslavia, a former peaceful and prosperous European state. The film includes rare stock footage not previously shown to Western audiences and offers a first‑hand perspective on why the West intervened in the Yugoslav conflict, featuring interviews with academics, diplomats, media personalities and ordinary citizens from the former Yugoslav republics. It also presents stories of cooperation across ethnic lines, as well as accounts of bravery and self‑sacrifice during the wars.
