The Yellow Mercedes

The film adapts *Fikrimin İnce Gülü*, a novel by Adalet Ağaoğlu, and follows a first‑generation guest worker returning home. It depicts his overland journey in brief segments from Germany to Turkey’s western border and then at length to his village near Ankara, the Turkish capital. The protagonist begins the trip by buying a second‑hand yellow Mercedes—possibly his first car—with the modest savings he accumulated while working as a laborer. The narrative provides insight into the mindset of manual worker Bayram (Ilyas Salman) on his inaugural return, using flashbacks to illustrate Bayram’s motivations and experiences from childhood through the events that led to his initial departure from Turkey to Germany.
