Synopsis

"Time, Forward!"—two orchestral suites by George Sviridov, first published in 1968 (first suite) and 1977 (second suite). The suites were based on the music for the film *Time, Forward!* by Mikhail Schweitzer, which in turn was adapted from the novel of the same name by Valentin Kataev. The film, shot in 1965 and released in 1966, is dedicated to the construction of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine. The most famous section from the first suite is "Time, Forward!", which was later used in several films, television and radio programs, and documentary films about the first Five-Year Plans, industrialization, and post-war reconstruction. Sergei Oskolkov composed his own suite, *Time, Back!*, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the revolution in Russia.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 2

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
