Synopsis

Today, over 800 young Afghan women are imprisoned for so-called "moral crimes," which include fleeing unlawful forced marriages, experiencing domestic violence, or marrying against their fathers' wishes. This is the story of one such woman. When Soheila was five years old, she was given in marriage to an elderly man as compensation for her older brother's crime—stealing his young third wife. After she fled the abusive marriage, her father had her arrested and imprisoned. Soheila was eventually released through an amnesty declared by President Karzai. We later meet her in a safe house in Kabul, where she is sheltered from her father and brother, who have threatened to kill her if she attempts to return to the father of her child. Her father also demands that she kill her three-year-old son to restore the family's honor.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 2

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
