Totstellen

The film follows Franz, a young man from Burgenland who works for a growing construction company. The company's boss, in urgent need of workers, attempts to retain Franz by offering him a promotion to foreman. Franz is uncertain but eventually accepts a job offer from a larger construction firm. He plans to start a family with his pregnant girlfriend, Erna, and build a home together. When Erna faints in an accident, Franz rushes to find a doctor, only to find the doctor occupied by the builder. In a moment of desperation, Franz pushes the builder aside, causing the man to injure his arm. As a result, Franz is reported to the police and taken to court. He becomes entangled in the legal system and is ultimately sent to prison, where he remains silent. The story is based on the book and screenplay by Michael Scharang.
