Turn the Page

In this short film, Ginger Lynn Allen portrays a nightclub stripper and prostitute who is raising her 12-year-old daughter. The film presents scenes from their daily life, with the story told from both the daughter's and the mother's perspectives. The mother, who is over 35, expresses that she always wanted to be a rock star. Her daughter, in an indirect and unconscious manner, questions her mother's parenting. For example, the daughter comments, "my mother tells me that I should never start smoking but she smokes a lot," as the mother is seen smoking while the daughter sleeps, or "my mother tells me not to watch a lot of TV because there is too much garbage on TV but she just watches TV more than I do." Ginger Lynn Allen's performance is considered quite good. Her striptease polo dance and the brutal sex scene at the end of the film are among the most memorable moments. It is suggested that these scenes could have been more carefully handled if the film had not been presented in a documentary-like voice-over style.
