Synopsis

"Wild Bill" Gray is a renegade known for his violent behavior, including abusing his wife. When his wife pleads with him to abandon a criminal expedition and stay at home, he responds by beating her. A cowboy named Jim rides by, hears the woman's screams, and intervenes, taking her to his friend, the postmaster, to provide her shelter. "Wild Bill" becomes determined to seek revenge. Paxton, the postmaster, sets out for the station with money and gold, accompanied briefly by Jim. Gray follows them in secret. After parting ways with Paxton, Jim takes a different route, leaving the postmaster to continue alone. Gray approaches Paxton, gaining the advantage, but Paxton proves quick and the two engage in a physical struggle. Ultimately, Gray overpowers Paxton and pushes him over a cliff. However, Paxton falls into a tree, which saves him from certain death.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 5

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
