Synopsis

In a small convent nestled in the serene Tuscan countryside, four friars live out their daily lives: Raniero, the gruff yet amiable guardian; Gervasio, a cheerful but hypochondriacal man; Bettino, who is naive; and Vittorio, an elderly friar responsible for tending the garden. Their routine is interrupted by the arrival of Antonio, who quickly gains the trust of three of the friars, though not Raniero, who remains deeply suspicious of him. The two men engage in acts of espionage, each trying to uncover details about the other's past. While searching through Antonio's cell, Raniero uncovers a shocking secret that is best left undisturbed.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 21

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
