Synopsis
After his football career, Ben Beck returned to his small town in Virginia and joined the family construction business. His contented family life with his wife, Lorrie, and teenage son, Jesse, is disrupted by the return of Ava Andersson, Ben's first high school love, who comes to town from Chicago to bury her mother after a failed marriage. Ava draws Ben into rekindling their past romance, a relationship she had ended abruptly without explanation. Jesse reacts with anger, even forgoing his football scholarship, which his father had hoped he would pursue, in favor of enrolling in a summer writing course.
