Synopsis
Lex "El Animal" Vargas is a Puerto Rican boxer from Queens who initially shows promise but lacks the ambition to pursue a major career. His path changes after his brother Paulie is accidentally shot and killed by a teenager during an amateur hold-up at their late father's shop. Lex closes the shop in response and turns professional. His career quickly ascends, but his rapid success brings challenges. He struggles to handle the pressures of professional boxing and resists the exploitation he and his entourage from the ghetto face, due to his inexperience and generous nature.
