Under the Piano
Synopsis
An autistic child grows up in the 1940s and 1950s with a mother who is bitter due to her fear of success, which has denied her a potential career in opera. This anger manifests as over-protectiveness toward her mentally ill daughter, persisting into the child's adulthood. However, a loving sister, who has a paralyzed arm, serves as a counterbalance to the mother's restrictive behavior and ultimately helps her sister lead a more fulfilling life.
