Synopsis
One of the last bills signed by President Lincoln authorizes the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad through the wilderness to California. However, financial opportunist Asa Barrows seeks to profit by obstructing the project. Chief troubleshooter Jeff Butler is challenged by Barrows' agent, gambler Sid Campeau; Campeau's partner, Dick Allen, is both Jeff's war buddy and rival in his pursuit of Molly Monahan, the engineer's daughter. As the effort to push the railroad through intensifies, the question remains: who will survive the struggle?
