Unterwerfung
Synopsis
François is a literary scholar and drinker whose relationships with women last no longer than a year, and whose life remains sufficiently happy. His contentment is disrupted when the charismatic Muslim politician Mohamed Ben Abbes is elected president of France, implementing policies of patriarchy and polygamy, which lead to François losing his job. As he becomes increasingly lonely, an offer arrives from Rector Rediger to return to teaching at the Sorbonne, but only on the condition that he convert to Islam.
