Documentary

On the violent border between Brazil and Paraguay, a conflict is unfolding over the expansion of agribusiness. On one side is lawyer Luana Ruiz, an heiress to contested lands and a prominent supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro. Ruiz, like other ruralistas—wealthy rural elites and agribusiness producers who advocate for the erasure of Indigenous cultures—has gained influence and seen her anti-Indigenous views grow under Bolsonaro's policies. On the other side is teacher and Guarani-Kaiowá leader Alenir Ximendes, who represents Indigenous resistance and communal values. Having experienced personal losses due to the actions of the ruralistas, Ximendes becomes a strong advocate for her community, fighting to protect their lands and constitutional rights. This film includes sensitive images and dialogue in its depiction of this urgent struggle for sovereignty.
