Frank Drannemann is a dedicated star chef and single father facing both professional and personal challenges. Since the tragic accidental death of his wife, the heart of the gourmet restaurant "La Vie," business has declined. His daughter, Franzi, who has a stiff knee joint as a result of the accident, has become emotionally distant and avoids close contact. His young son, Michael, also feels overlooked, as Frank focuses most of his attention on his cooking. While Frank excels in preparing his signature dishes, such as his famous lobster or his enticing sauces, he has become disconnected from reality. With the warm presence of his late wife no longer there, the restaurant has seen a drop in guests, and "La Vie" is now at risk of going bankrupt.
