Synopsis
Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is Africa’s oldest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also a site of intense conflict, as various insurgent groups seek to destabilize the government in pursuit of the region’s natural resources. At the same time, the park remains the last natural habitat for the critically endangered mountain gorilla. The survival of the gorillas and the park itself depends on a small group of dedicated park rangers and journalists working to protect its borders and reveal the corruption of those opposing them. The documentary features compelling footage and highlights the gorillas' complex and gentle nature, offering a powerful perspective on the political and environmental challenges facing the region.
