Synopsis

This animated short features a series of typical Avery-style gags centered around wild animals. A delicate deer loudly and impolitely drinks from a lake. A pack rat exchanges an egg for an acorn and then re-exchanges them, commenting, "monotonous, isn't it?" A group of ducks lands; a hunter takes aim; all the ducks take flight, except one wearing an American flag on its side. A termite brings down a massive tree. A cowboy appears to ride across the plains—well, no; his horse is simply slapping itself with its front hooves. A coyote calls out to its mate: "Hey, Mabel, come on out!" A camel disputes the narrator, stating he is actually very thirsty. A wild dog appears—because of the lumbermen.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 7

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
