Walkabout

Synopsis

A geologist, under the guise of a picnic, takes his teenage daughter and six-year-old son into the Australian outback and tries to shoot them. When he is unsuccessful, he turns the gun on himself, leaving the two urban-raised children to face the unforgiving wilderness alone. They are rescued by a chance meeting with an Aboriginal boy, who teaches them survival skills and, in doing so, highlights the tension between nature and contemporary life.
