Walker
Synopsis
In 2012, the Hong Kong International Film Festival invited Tsai Ming-Liang to create the opening short film. Influenced by Hong Kong's popular culture from his youth, Tsai decided to pay tribute by making a "Walker" film, juxtaposing the Walker's deliberate slowness against the fast-paced rhythm of Hong Kong's urban life. The film concludes with a song performed by Hong Kong actor and singer Samuel Hui, who was a childhood idol of Tsai Ming-Liang. The film was also selected as the closing short film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
