Synopsis

In the Far North, specifically Milan, Alberto assumes responsibility for a program aimed at improving efficiency within the Italian Post. He dedicates his full time and energy to this task, which leads him to neglect his wife Silvia, causing her considerable annoyance. In Castellabate, Maria, who is Matta's wife, frequently criticizes him for what she perceives as his lack of ambition, further straining their relationship. Following a misunderstanding, Mattia is transferred to Milan and arrives at Alberto's residence.
