Synopsis
In 1945, a young boy arrives in a small Georgia town on a bus from which his mother was abducted and murdered. He sits quietly, and the townspeople come to believe he is deaf and mute. Choosing to remain silent, he sees it as a source of power and protection, and he listens closely to the conversations of those who assume he cannot hear them.
