When Pigs Have Wings
Synopsis
After a storm, fishermen in Gaza sometimes find more than just fish in their nets. This is the case for Jafaar, a poor fisherman struggling to make ends meet. What he pulls in is disturbing: a pig, an animal considered unclean in both Islam and Judaism. Determined to get rid of it, Jafaar tries to sell the animal first to a United Nations official, then to a Jewish settlement where Yelena keeps pigs not for meat but for security purposes. However, navigating with a "forbidden" animal through Palestinian communities, past Israeli soldiers, and under the watch of Islamic fundamentalists proves difficult and leads Jafaar into a series of misadventures.
