Synopsis
The film opens with a black-and-white preface showing a woman in a traditional kimono climbing stairs while WWII-era Mitsubishi Zeros fly overhead, with footage of the Japanese military from the period superimposed. She stops at the top to pray, rings a bell, and enters a building where the footage transitions to color. Inside, she unwraps her kimono, rubs her face with the fabric, then carefully wraps her blade before tenderly touching it. She draws the blade across her stomach, slits herself open, and falls to the mat. Crawling across it, she bleeds out, slipping in her own blood until she can no longer move.
