Why Do Fools Fall in Love

In the mid‑1980s, three women—each accompanied by an attorney—appear at the office of New York entertainment manager Morris Levy. One is a Los Angeles singer who previously performed with the Platters; another is a petty thief from Philadelphia; the third teaches school in a small town in Georgia. All three claim to be the widow of the deceased doo‑wop singer‑songwriter Frankie Lyman and each seeks royalties owed to his estate, which Levy has never disbursed. During the ensuing civil trial, flashbacks recount each woman’s relationship with Lyman, a boyish, high‑pitched, dynamic performer who died from heroin use. Over time, the three alleged wives develop their own bond.
