Window

The moving camera shapes the screen image with clear intention, using the frame of a window as a pivot around which the exterior scene is rotated. The zoom lens creates a dynamic effect, separating and rejoining depth planes, contracting and expanding in sync with the camera movements to generate a strong sense of motion within the complex arrangement of forms displayed on the horizontal-vertical screen, its stability guided by the audience's perception of gravity. The camera's movements are often transferred to objects, which appear to move dramatically (for example, an adjacent building seems to turn rather than the camera). Approximately four years of study of the window-complex preceded the actual shooting session (an authentic example of cinematic action-painting). The film remains as it was captured by the camera, with the exception of one mechanically required splice in the middle of the reel.
