Synopsis
Jean-Étienne Fougerole, an intellectual bohemian, releases his new novel *In Open Arms* and calls on wealthy individuals to welcome families in need into their homes. During a televised debate promoting the book, his opponent criticizes him for not practicing what he advocates. Feeling pressured to avoid discredit, Fougerole accepts the challenge. That same evening, a Roma family arrives at his villa in Marnes-la-Coquette, and the writer feels compelled to provide them shelter.
