With What Shall I Wash It?

An animated short film that blends humor and originality through its imagery. Sixteenth-century music adds an emotional dimension, giving the short a distinctive and brilliant production style within gay cinematography. The film won the Teddy Award for short films at the 54th International Film Festival in Berlin in 2004. The story takes place at daybreak in the red-light district of a Spanish town. A person who works in this area makes their way home, sits in front of a mirror, and begins to remove their makeup. As they do, they reflect on the previous night’s events to the strains of a medieval song titled "¿Con qué la lavaré?", a lament about single women once sung in four-part harmony. The film serves as a celluloid tribute to homosexual artists of the late 1970s, just after the end of Franco's dictatorship.
