Synopsis

Two unemployed actors—Marwood, who is anxious and perpetually unlucky, and his sharp-tongued, alcoholic friend, Withnail—pass their time moving between their run-down flat, the unemployment office, and the local pub. When they inadvertently take a holiday at the country home of Withnail's flamboyant, openly gay uncle, Monty, they find themselves confronting the less appealing aspects of rural England: boredom, unwelcoming locals, and relentless rain.
