Synopsis
*L’Emprise* is a drama adapted from the true story detailed in the book *Acquitted* by Alexandra Lange. It follows the case of a mother of four children who stood trial in March 2012 in Douai for the murder of her husband. The film explores the circumstances that led a woman to kill the father of her children with a knife. Over the course of three days of trial, the gripping narrative delves into the daily life of Alexandra, a mother who was failed by society in protecting herself and her children from the control of a man she once loved. The film, inspired by a real event that caused public outrage, raises questions about the fairness of the justice system. Will her voice be heard?
