Yggdrasill: Whose Roots Are Stars in the Human Mind

This film, blending hand-painting and photography, offers a thorough exploration of the themes introduced in *DOG STAR MAN*. In that earlier work, I depicted The World Tree as dead, suitable only for firewood; at the conclusion of *DOG STAR MAN*, I chopped it up amid a flurry of stars (ultimately Cassiopia's Chair). Now, many years later, I feel compelled to understand YGGDRASILL as rooted in the intricate electrical synapses of the thought process, perceiving it as alive today as it was when Nordic legend first conceived it. I share this impulse with Andrei Tarkovsky, whose final film, *The Sacrifice*, attempts to revive The World Tree through narrative, while I simply present—almost as a "document"—a moving graph approximating my thought process, through which The Tree roots itself as the stars we, reflectively, are.
