Synopsis

Kyoko, who skipped high school and graduated without attending, works at a brothel to support her lover, who aspires to be a novelist. When her lover suddenly abandons her, Kyoko loses her sense of purpose in both work and life. Deeply wounded emotionally, she marries a man named Ukai, who had promised to "change her world" after seducing her over the course of three years. Though Ukai lives in a mansion, he has a disturbing habit of becoming sexually aroused by treating his wife and the maids like livestock. Kyoko eventually kills one of the maids by beating her with a glass ashtray and flees. Her destination is a memory room where she reconnects with Haruki. In that room, a brother and sister, Keisuke and Erica, live together. Kyoko finds comfort in their kindness, as they reside in an accident-damaged property that is cheaper to rent. However, she soon discovers that the two are engaged in criminal activities aimed at revolutionizing society.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 12

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
