Biography

A.V. Meiyappan, also known as Avichi Meiyappa Chettiar or AVM, was an influential Indian film producer, director, and screenwriter who played a key role in shaping Tamil cinema. He founded AVM Productions in Vadapalani, Chennai, which became one of the most successful and enduring production companies in South Indian film history. Meiyappan is considered one of the three major movie moguls of the South Indian film industry, alongside S. S. Vasan and L. V. Prasad. His company remained operational for over five decades and across three generations, making it a rare success story in the Indian film industry.
