Abigail Thorn

Abigail Thorn (born 24 April 1993) is a British actress and YouTuber known for her channel Philosophy Tube. She began the channel in 2013, aiming to offer free philosophy lessons following the 2012 rise in British university tuition fees. Her content typically presents philosophical ideas from a left-wing perspective, often linked to contemporary political issues. Since 2018, the channel has adopted a more theatrical style, incorporating dramatic studio sets, lighting, costuming, and makeup. Philosophy Tube has received positive critical attention, and by January 2021, it had approximately 830,000 subscribers. In 2019, Thorn hosted a live Twitch stream in which she read plays from Shakespeare's Complete Works to support the mental health charity Samaritans. The five-day event featured guest appearances and raised over £100,000 for the charity. Thorn publicly came out as a transgender woman in January 2021.
