Adarsh Gourav

Adarsh Gourav Bhagavatula was born on July 8, 1994, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand (then part of Bihar). He is an actor, singer, and songwriter who works in both Hollywood and Bollywood. He spent his formative years in Mumbai and graduated from Narsee Monjee with a Bachelor's degree. He is also an alumnus of The Drama School in Mumbai. Classically trained in Hindustani Music for more than nine years, Gourav was the frontman for two progressive metal bands during his school and college years: Steepsky and Oak Island. Oak Island released an EP titled *Aliens Can't Jump*, which was featured on the show *MTV Indies - Never Hide Sounds*. He has worked with music legends such as Illayaraja and Sukhwinder Singh as a playback singer for two Bollywood movies: *Black and White* and *Chal Chalein*. Gourav has been acting since his teenage years and, over a decade-long acting career, has been part of more than 50 TV and digital ad campaigns. He has worked with notable brands such as Airtel, Cadbury, Dominos, Hotstar, and Nescafe. His first acting role was in Karan Johar's *My Name is Khan* (2010), starring Shah Rukh Khan, and he has since acted in Anurag Kashyap's *Madly*, starred in the critically acclaimed *Rukh* alongside Manoj Bajpayee, and played an impactful role in Sridevi's *Mom* (2017). He has crossed over into Hollywood with his role as the titular character, Balram Halwai, in the Netflix global production *The White Tiger* (2021), which was released in January 2021. Gourav has also appeared in popular web series such as *Laila*, *Die Trying*, and *Hostel Daze*.
