Biography

Atef Salem was an Egyptian film director who worked in Egyptian cinema from 1954 to 2001. He directed 32 films, many of which were based on scripts by the novelist Naguib Mahfouz. One of his notable works, *Khan el Khalili*, was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival in 1967. His career spanned nearly five decades, during which he made significant contributions to the Egyptian film industry.
