Biography

Atef Salem was an Egyptian film director known for his work in Egyptian cinema. Active from 1954 to 2001, he directed 32 films, many of which were based on scripts by the renowned novelist Naguib Mahfouz. One of his notable works, *Khan el Khalili*, was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival in 1967. Salem's career spanned nearly five decades, during which he contributed significantly to the Egyptian film industry.
