Biography

Ato Essandoh (born July 29, 1972) is an American television and film actor. He was born in Schenectady, New York, and graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1990. Essandoh earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Cornell University, where he joined the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and became a member of the Irving Literary Society. He is also a playwright, and his work *Black Thang* appears in the anthology *Plays and Playwrights 2003*. Essandoh further studied acting at the Acting Studio in New York City. He is the co-founder of The Defiant Ones, a writing and performance group. His parents are originally from Ghana, West Africa.
