Biography

Baldy Cooke (Baldwin Gardiner Cooke, Jr.), born March 10, 1888, in New York, New York, performed with his wife Alice in vaudeville alongside Stan as part of the Stan Jefferson Trio, maintaining a close friendship with him over the years. Cooke appeared in 31 Laurel and Hardy films, beginning with *Two Tars* and concluding with *Swiss Miss*. He also worked with Our Gang and Charley Chase, appearing in approximately 80 films between 1928 and 1942. Cooke and Alice were close friends of Stan Laurel, even moving in with him and his new wife Ruth as chaperones while Stan awaited the finalization of his divorce from Lois. He died on December 31, 1953, in Los Angeles at the age of 65.
