Biography
Robert Tomlinson Wheeler III was an American track and field athlete who specialized in middle-distance running, particularly the mile. Born in Timonium, Maryland, he attended Dulaney High School and later Duke University, where he became a standout performer. Wheeler represented the United States at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, competing in the 1500 metres. He set multiple records during his collegiate career, including Duke's indoor mile record, the outdoor 1500 metres record, and the indoor 1000 metres record, all achieved between 1971 and 1973.
