Chris Bruno

Chris Bruno (born March 15, 1966, in Milford, Connecticut) is an American actor known for his role as Sheriff Walt Bannerman on the USA Network series *The Dead Zone*. His brother, Dylan Bruno, plays Colby Granger on *Numb3rs*. During college, Bruno was involved in both theater and sports. After an injury ended his skiing career at a college in Vermont, he auditioned for and was cast in the lead role of *The Mandrake*. He later transferred to the State University of New York at Stony Brook as a theater major and also became the starting pitcher for the school's baseball team.

After graduating from college, Bruno joined the cast of NBC's *Another World* as Dennis Carrington Wheeler and was nominated for a Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Newcomer. Following *Another World*, he played Michael Delaney on ABC's *All My Children*.

Bruno spent several years performing as a stand-up comedian and appeared in guest roles on sitcoms such as *The Nanny*, *Jesse*, and *Suddenly Susan*.

In 2001, he was cast as Walt Bannerman in *The Dead Zone*, a sci-fi drama on USA Network. The series premiere was the highest-rated cable television debut at the time. In the show's fifth season, Bruno directed the episode "Independence Day," dedicated to his mother, Nancy M. Bruno, who died of cancer. Dylan Bruno guest-starred in the episode. His father is actor Scott Bruno (b. 1942). Bruno remained a main cast member through the first five seasons; his character was killed off in the sixth season's premiere. He made three additional guest appearances during the final season.

Bruno also starred alongside Anthony Hopkins in the 2005 film *The World's Fastest Indian*, directed by Roger Donaldson. In 2009, he appeared in two episodes of *Prison Break* and later in the television movie *Prison Break: The Final Break*.
