Biography

Claudio Ermelli was an Italian film actor who appeared in over one hundred films from 1915 to 1962. He had a long and prolific career in Italian cinema, working during both the silent and sound eras. Ermelli is best known internationally for his role as Giovanni, the landlord of Gregory Peck's character in the 1953 film Roman Holiday. Despite his extensive filmography, he remained primarily a supporting actor, often appearing in character roles. His work in Roman Holiday brought him wider recognition, though he continued to perform in Italian productions throughout his career.
