Biography
Craig Gillespie is an Australian film director known for his work on *Lars and the Real Girl* (2007), *I, Tonya* (2017), and *Cruella* (2021). He was born and raised in Sydney before moving to New York City at nineteen to study illustration, graphic design, and advertising at the School of Visual Arts. Over the next fifteen years, Gillespie worked primarily as a commercial director, frequently collaborating with cinematographers Adam Kimmel and Rodrigo Prieto. His debut feature film was *Mr. Woodcock* (2007), though he departed the project following several negative test screenings, leading to extensive rewrites and reshoots.
