David Koechner

David Michael Koechner is an American character actor, comedian, and musician who has worked in film, television, and stage. He began studying improvisational comedy in Chicago at the ImprovOlympic, under the guidance of Del Close, before joining the Second City Northwest. After spending one year each on sketch comedy for *Saturday Night Live* and *Late Night with Conan O'Brien*, he started taking on small roles in films such as *Man on the Moon* and *Wag the Dog*. While filming the country mockumentary *Dill Scallion*, Koechner befriended Dave "Gruber" Allen, and together they formed *The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show*. The act gained popularity at Hollywood clubs such as Largo, and the duo were invited to open for Tenacious D.

Koechner's breakout role came as Champ Kind in *Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy*, after which he appeared in numerous high-profile comedic films in larger supporting roles, including *Talladega Nights*, *Snakes on a Plane*, *Waiting...*, *The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard*, *Extract*, and *Thank You for Smoking*. He also made recurring guest appearances on *The Office*, playing Todd Packer, a role he shared with co-star Steve Carell. On 17 January 2007, *The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show* premiered on Comedy Central, giving Koechner a starring role and full creative control. His first leading role came as Coach Lambeau Fields in *The Comebacks*, a sports comedy released by Fox Atomic on 19 October 2007.
