Biography

David Charles Prowse was an English actor, bodybuilder, strongman, and weightlifter, best known for his portrayal of Darth Vader in the original *Star Wars* trilogy. He also appeared as a manservant in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film *A Clockwork Orange*. Although Prowse's performance as Darth Vader became iconic, he did not provide the character's voice, which was instead delivered by James Earl Jones. In 2015, Prowse participated in two documentaries about his time as Darth Vader: *The Force's Mouth*, in which he voiced Vader's lines with studio effects for the first time, and *I Am Your Father*, which examined the tensions between Prowse and Lucasfilm following his casting.
