Biography
Don Beddoe was an American character actor raised in New York City and Cincinnati, Ohio. The son of Dan Beddoe, a professor at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a renowned Welsh tenor, Beddoe initially pursued a career in journalism but became involved in theatre, starting with amateur companies and later professional troupes. He made his Broadway debut in 1929 and maintained a decade-long stage career. Though he made some minor appearances in silent films, he transitioned to film work in 1938. Over the years, he appeared in numerous films in a wide range of supporting roles, often portraying either a fast-talking reporter or a timid character. He became a familiar face in Hollywood movies, though largely unknown by name outside the industry. After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he continued working steadily in small roles, while also expanding into television. Even in his later years, he remained active, supplementing his acting with a second career in real estate. He died in 1991.
