Biography

Francesca Comencini is an Italian film director and screenwriter known for her contributions to Italian cinema. She studied at the Lycée français Chateaubriand school with her sisters and has directed 14 films since 1984. Among her notable works is *The Words of My Father*, which was shown in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. In 2012, her film *A Special Day* was chosen to compete for the Golden Lion at the 69th Venice International Film Festival. Comencini was married to French producer Daniel Toscan du Plantier.
