Biography

Francine Joyce Maisler (born May 8, 1961) is an American casting director known for her significant contributions to contemporary film and television. She began her career at Actors' Equity Association in New York before moving into casting. Maisler gained wider recognition for her work on the film *Reality Bites*, and she further established herself in the industry when she was selected to cast the ensemble for *The Usual Suspects*.

Throughout her career, Maisler has cast more than seventy feature films and a number of television productions. She has worked with several acclaimed directors, including Alejandro González Iñárritu (on *The Revenant* and *Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)*), Terrence Malick (on *The Tree of Life*), and Denis Villeneuve (on *Dune* and its sequel).

Maisler has received fifteen awards from the Casting Society of America (Artios Awards) and has been nominated more than fifty times. She has also won two Robert Altman Awards from the Independent Spirit Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards—one for Drama for her work on *Succession* and another for Comedy for *The Studio*.
