Biography

Frank Ripploh was a German actor, film director, and author, best known for his semi-autobiographical 1980 film *Taxi zum Klo*. Produced on a modest budget of 100,000 DM, the film depicted the daily life of a Berlin schoolteacher with an active gay sex life. Notably explicit for its time, *Taxi zum Klo* was groundbreaking in its portrayal of gay themes and gained cult status among gay audiences. In 1987, Ripploh directed a sequel titled *Taxi nach Kairo*, though it was less successful and not released outside Germany.
