Ginny Fiennes

Ginny Fiennes, born Virginia Frances Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, was an English explorer known for her contributions to polar research. She was the first woman to receive the Polar Medal and the first to be inducted into the Antarctic Club, honors recognizing her work with the British Antarctic Survey and the University of Sheffield on very low frequency radio propagation. Fiennes was married to fellow adventurer Ranulph Fiennes, with whom she shared a passion for exploration. Her achievements marked significant milestones for women in polar science and exploration.
