Biography

Grant Masaru Imahara was an American electrical engineer, roboticist, television host and actor, best known for his work on the series MythBusters, where he designed and built numerous robots and handled computers and electronics used to test myths.

Imahara began his career at Lucasfilm, working in the THX division as an engineer and in Industrial Light & Magic’s visual‑effects department, contributing to films from franchises such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, The Matrix and Terminator. He entered television on the robot combat series BattleBots, designing and competing with his robot Deadblow before later serving as a judge. In 2005 he joined the MythBusters Build Team, appearing in more than 200 episodes until leaving the show in 2014, and in 2016 starred in the Netflix series White Rabbit Project alongside Kari Byron and Tory Belleci.
